Rublev Blows His Top at French Open, Admits to Tanking a Set

Alex de Minaur and Thanasi Kokkinakis to Return to Court Saturday Night

Russian Hot-Head Andrey Rublev Crashes Out Spectacularly

Australians Alex de Minaur and Thanasi Kokkinakis are set to take to the court again on Saturday night AEST. The pair will face off against Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev in the semi-finals of the men's doubles tournament.

Rublev has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this week. The Russian hot-head lost his cool spectacularly during his third-round clash against Italy's Matteo Arnaldi on Friday afternoon. After dropping the first set, Rublev completely lost his composure and began smashing his racket and arguing with the umpire.

Rublev's outburst continued after the match, when he admitted to tanking the second set. "I just lost my mind," Rublev said. "I was so angry and frustrated. I just wanted to get off the court as quickly as possible."

Rublev's behavior has been widely condemned, and he is facing a possible fine or suspension from the ATP Tour. However, the Russian is not the first player to lose his cool at the French Open. In 2015, Nick Kyrgios was fined $10,000 for smashing his racket and arguing with the umpire during his third-round match against Richard Gasquet.

Despite Rublev's meltdown, the French Open is still providing plenty of drama and excitement. De Minaur and Kokkinakis are looking to become the first Australian men to win a Grand Slam doubles title since Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde in 2000.
